Food for
Life Canada was started in 1995 by Jorge Bagaco. Using his
own vehicle he picked up day-old bread and delivered it to
several support groups in the Oakville area. In 1998 the Rotary
Club of Oakville West provided Food for Life Canada with a
van to make the deliveries.
Food for
Life Canada now collects surplus food from several locations
and distributes it to over 2000 needy people in Oakville,
Burlington, Hamilton and Mississauga.
The Trillium
Foundation recently provided a 2 year grant to enable Food
for Life Canada to further expand and the Rotary Club of Oakville
West will be assisting with this expansion.
